You still can’t wipe the smile from the affable chippie who, alongside his wife Lisa, clinched the victory in season 2 of House Rules back in 2014. Following their wedding in May 2015, they relocated from Melbourne to Sydney to join the Better Homes and Gardens team, where Adam assumed the role of resident builder. Consequently, Adam’s grin seems permanent these days. Upon their return to Melbourne, they welcomed their daughter Arabella in May 2016, coincidentally on the day he won the fan-voted Logie award for Best New Talent. Their second daughter, Ruby, arrived in 2017.

Adam continues to oversee his building projects through his business, ASD Constructions, driven by his passion. Raised in Melbourne in a hard-working Italian family, Adam spent his youth assisting in his parents’ pizza shop. Using all his savings to purchase his beloved ED Ford became a turning point. At 18, a car accident destroyed it, prompting Adam to rethink his priorities. “I’d saved since I was 13 to buy my dream car. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but it was a financial wake-up call,” he explains.

From then on, he pursued a carpentry apprenticeship while working in the family pizza shop and as a weekend delivery boy for a florist, diligently saving for his first house.

Adam attributes his carpentry career to an unexpected mentor. During high school, he enjoyed hands-on work and did work experience with a mechanic who altered his career path. “He asked me, ‘Do you love anything as much as mechanics?’ I replied, ‘Carpentry.’ He advised me to pursue carpentry as the mechanics industry was changing,” Adam recalls.

With their growing success, Adam and Lisa decided to give back by joining the charity Habitat for Humanity. They traveled to Nepal last year under the charity’s guidance, helping to build homes for up to 40 families in a slum community. “This project empowered struggling families with a tiny, interest-free loan to own their homes. It’s a source of pride and relief for families to have a roof over their heads that they own.”

Adam is a devoted Collingwood football fan and, thanks to Lisa, has embraced dog ownership with their cavoodle, Buckley. “I never thought I’d own a dog, but this little bugger has won my heart.” They sold their House Rules home for more space for their girls and purchased another renovation project, which they are still working on today. When not on screen or immersed in building projects, Adam enjoys family time, taking his girls for bike rides and to the park.
