Sky News / The Advertiser Leaders’ Debate – Wednesday 18 March at 12.00pm ACDT / 12.30pm AEDT on Sky News Australia – The Sky News / The Advertiser Leaders’ Debate will see South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas and Opposition Leader Ashton Hurn battle it out for the state’s top job in their final face off before polling day.

This critical concluding debate to the SA State Election campaign will be moderated by Sky News Australia’s Chief News Anchor Kieran Gilbert and will be broadcast live from Adelaide on Wednesday 18 March at 12.00pm ACDT / 12.30pm AEDT.

South Australia’s election could send shockwaves across Australia – with the Liberals trailing One Nation in several polls. This campaign could prove the first real test if that surging support can have an actual impact at the ballot box, or if the Liberals can remain competitive.

For voters – this debate will ask both Leaders the tough questions on their plans for the State’s big issues: cost-of-living, energy prices, ambulance ramping, aged care availability and housing availability.

Kieran Gilbert said:

“The South Australian election is the first since the recent surge in support for One Nation.  With Pauline Hanson committing to running a candidate in every state seat, it will be fascinating to see if the opinion polls are reflected at the ballot box.

“It’s shaping as a challenging election for the SA Liberals, up against a popular premier and the challenge from One Nation on its right flank.”

Gemma Jones, Editor of The Advertiser said:

“Premier Peter Malinauskas has an unassailable lead in opinion polls so the biggest question this state election will be whether One Nation, under the leadership of Cory Bernardi, can maintain momentum and relegate the Liberals to third.

“It is a stunning position for new Liberal leader Ashton Hurn, who was given just 103 days to rescue a party which has had three leaders in four years. She is a clear step up from her predecessors, one of whom was convicted of illicit drug supply offences committed while he was Opposition Leaderand while the other had integrity, he was ineffective.”

The Sky News / The Advertiser Leaders’ Debate will be live streamed to subscribers at SkyNews.com.au and advertiser.com.au.
