Battleground Debate: Menzies on Sky News Australia – Sky News has announced a further two debates in its exclusive 2025 Federal Election Battleground Debate series.
First on Wednesday at 1:30pm, Sky News will bring viewers live coverage as the Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor take part in their final economic debate hosted by the Business Council of Australia (BCA) and the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia.
At 3:00pm, Liberal MP Keith Wolahan will go head-to-head with Labor candidate Gabriel Ng in the Battleground Debate: Menzies. Menzies is the Liberal’s most marginal seat nationwide following a redistribution of geographic boundaries. Labor is hoping for a win to offset likely losses elsewhere in Melbourne as voters weigh up if they agree or disagree with the Coalition’s pledge to scrap funding for the Suburban Rail Loop and redirect it to the Melbourne Airport Rail Link project instead.
Then tomorrow at 3:00pm, the Sky News / The Courier-Mail Battleground Debate: Brisbane will see Greens MP Stephen Bates, Labor candidate Madonna Jarrett and Liberal National Party candidate Trevor Evans face off.
The Greens victory in Brisbane was one of the shocks of 2022. Can the former Liberal National Party MP and former Chief of Staff to Peter Dutton Trevor Evans win his old seat back, or will first term Greens MP Stephen Bates retain it? The battle for Brisbane is the must-watch Queensland contest this election.
