SPA Calls for Entries: SDIN Award 2025 – Entries are now open for the annual Screen Diversity and Inclusion Network (SDIN) Award, proudly supported by Screen Producers Australia (SPA).
The Award recognises an Australian production that has significantly contributed to diversity and inclusion within the Australian screen industry. Previous winners include The Assembly (Helium Pictures and Bus Stop Films), Marungka Tjalatjunu – Dipped in Black (Derik Lynch and Matthew Thorne), Latecomers (Lazy Susan Films and Mad Ones Films) and Here Out West (Co-Curious).
AWARD ENTRY & JUDGING CRITERIA
Any production with content that actively reflects the diversity of Australian society, challenges stereotypes and offers a chance for under-represented groups to tell their own stories and/or see themselves on screen is encouraged to enter. This includes by age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, intersex status, religion, socio-economic status, disability or geographic location in story line and subject matter.
While the content and subject matter will be the primary voting criteria, significant contributions in off screen inclusive employment and development programs for cast, crew and staff will also be a valid consideration for the judges in deciding their votes.
Entered projects must have had their first release or public viewing in Australia between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2025 on terrestrial, cable, satellite or digital channels, by theatrical release or at a recognised film festival.
Judging by SDIN Members will commence after entries close. Finalists will be announced in the lead up to SCREEN FOREVER 40 and the Winner will be announced at the 24th Annual SPA Awards ceremony on 30 April 2026 at The Star Theatre on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
