These industry powerhouses will join forces with independent innovators, consultants, and creators to explore the future of screen, gaming, and technology in Australia, from AI adoption and ethical storytelling to audience discovery and monetisation.
A new session announced today is Pixels & Frames: Bridging Film and Games in the Australian Creative Landscape, co-produced by SXSW Sydney and SPA, specifically for GENR8 2025.
The session will examine how Australia’s gaming and screen industries can foster crossover without the infrastructure of Hollywood, with a focus on collaboration, audience engagement, and new funding models for local creators.
“As storytelling continues to evolve, shaped by emerging technologies, shifting audience behaviours, and a reimagined creative landscape, it’s vital that SPA champion initiatives like GENR8. This one-day ideas lab and networking forum delivers bold conversations on topics from AI adoption and ethics to redefining content, monetisation, and responsible innovation,”
– said SPA CEO Matthew Deaner.
