Presented by award-winning journalist and Sky News Political Contributor Chris Uhlmann, the one-hour documentary marks 30 years since John Howard was sworn in as Australia’s 25th Prime Minister and commemorates a landmark period in the nation’s political history.
The documentary reflects on the legacy of Australia’s second longest-serving prime minister, surpassed only by Sir Robert Menzies.
Featuring interviews with a distinguished group of former political leaders and public figures — including former Prime Ministers Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull, former Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson, former Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, former Treasurer of Australia Peter Costello and international cricketer David Warner — the program offers a wide-ranging assessment of Mr Howard’s leadership.
The documentary also gives a rare insight into the Howard family through an exclusive interview with the Prime Minister’s daughter, Melanie Howard-McDonald.
Contributors examine Mr Howard’s approach to economic reform, national security, social policy and Australia’s role on the global stage, while also reflecting on the personal qualities that defined his leadership during his eleven years in office.
