AWG | Win for Home & Away script department – Home and Away script department become permanent employees.
The Australian Writers’ Guild (AWG) has worked collaboratively with the Seven Network to come to an agreement about moving our members in the Home and Away script department to permanent employment contracts.
Members working in the Home and Away script department have historically been engaged on fixed term contracts that left them without employment over the holiday period
They came to the Guild for advice on whether 2022 legislation changes to fixed term contracts applied to them. Together, we raised the issue with Seven and they agreed to transition these employees to permanent employment contracts.
The members also received certain entitlements, including public holidays that fell during the 2024 production break periods. This is a massive win for our Guild members and a testament to the power of workers standing together for better pay and conditions.
AWG Director of Industrial and Policy Bryant Apolonio explains the agreement here.
