Four discretionary awards were presented during the night. These awards celebrated both emerging and established creatives in our community, recognising their exceptional contributions and talent.

  • Renowned for his groundbreaking work on Dune, The Batman, Lion, and The Mandalorian, Greig Fraiser was presented with the AACTA Byron Kennedy Award. This prestigious award honours Australian screen practitioners who inspire others through their work, celebrating their significant contribution to advancing Australian screen culture and excellence.
  • The AACTA Reg Grundy Award, now in its fifth year, offers a combined $50K prize to the individual or team with the best pitch for a new and innovative unscripted format. The team behind “Unspoiled” – Melanie Hogan, Neville Poelina, and Jamie Durie – will receive the funding.
AACTA Chair, Jack Christian said:

“The winners of the 2025 AACTA Awards remind us why Australian storytelling stands among the best in the world. From bold new voices to industry icons, this year’s recipients have delivered work that is powerful, original, and deserving of global recognition. “Better Man” is a perfect example – critically acclaimed and now AACTA-winning, proving that great cinema leaves a lasting impact beyond the box office. We celebrate all of tonight’s winners and their contribution to shaping the future of Australian screen culture.”

Alison Hurbert-Burns, Commissioner and Executive Director, Entertainment Content, Foxtel Group, said:

“It’s been another strong year for Australian storytelling, a testament to the talent and skill that goes into their creation. Congratulations to all the winners, nominees and everyone recognised at the 2025 AACTA Awards for your creative endeavours and contribution to Australian film and television.”

Queensland’s Minister for the Environment and Tourism and Minister for Science and Innovation, Andrew Powell MP said the Gold Coast and this glittering awards ceremony are the perfect match.

“Queensland knows how to put on a show, with our immense natural beauty and buzzing culture and evidently, so does all the talent who have gathered at HOTA this evening to celebrate the dazzling Australian film industry.

“The AACTA Festival attracts more than 7,000 people who provide an economic injection of almost $4.5 million. Being on the Gold Coast makes everyone feel like a winner, which is likely why so many iconic films and television series have been shot here.

“Congratulations to all the nominees and winners of tonight’s awards, the Australian film industry wouldn’t be what it is without your exceptional talent.”

“This year’s awards celebrations have set a new benchmark for screen and film industry excellence,”

– said Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate.

“I applaud all nominees and winners and look forward to seeing what film and television projects they take on next.

“Let’s continue to make movie magic here on the Gold Coast and recognise the giants of film and television.”

Queensland Minister for the Arts and Member for Surfers Paradise John-Paul Langbroek said the AACTA Awards Ceremony has quickly become a highlight of the state’s screen culture calendar, further cementing the Gold Coast’s reputation as a thriving hub for screen production.

“The Crisafulli Government is proud to support the AACTA Awards and Festival, which in 2025 has celebrated some of our state’s finest films and series supported by Screen Queensland, and I congratulate all the talented winners and nominees this evening.

“The AACTA Awards are the jewel in the crown of an exciting five-day program that recognises the value of authentic Australian screen storytelling and the long-term career opportunities generated by our growing creative sector.”

The 2025 AACTA Awards Ceremony was broadcast in Australia on Channel Ten at 7.30pm AEDT, Friday 7 February. A special extended AACTA Awards broadcast, including all awards from the ceremony, will be available from 7:30pm on Saturday 8 February on BINGE and Foxtel (Famous and available On-Demand).
