Sunrise welcomes Georgie Chumbley as Queensland reporter

Georgie Chumbley makes a fresh start on Sunrise in Queensland

7NEWS reporter sets the alarm for a brand new role

The Seven Network is excited to announce Georgie Chumbley as the new Queensland reporter for Australia’s favourite breakfast show, Sunrise.

The 31-year-old 7NEWS reporter from Brisbane will join Natalie Barr, David Koch and the top-rating team each day, bringing viewers the latest news and views from the Sunshine State.

Chumbley won the hotly-contested role with her impressive CV in TV journalism, having reported far and wide across Queensland, including stints in Toowoomba, Mackay and the Sunshine Coast, before spending 18 months in Darwin and then returning to her home city to join Seven in 2017.

She joins Sydney-based Mylee Hogan and Teegan Dolling in Melbourne as the experienced reporters delivering breaking news each day on Sunrise, which continues its ratings dominance across the country each day.

Sunrise Executive Producer, Sean Power, said:

“Georgie’s passion for everything Queensland is red hot and we’re thrilled she’s joining Sunrise. Georgie is going to make a terrific addition to our dedicated team of passionate local reporters who love breaking news every morning, and telling stories that matter to their community.”

Chumbley said:

“It’s such a privilege to tell Queenslanders’ stories and I’m so excited to get the opportunity to share them with the rest of the country. I’ve grown up here and watched Brisbane shift from a big country town to a thriving city. We have so much to offer and with so many Sydneysiders and Victorians moving here … the rest of Australia is now catching on. I can’t wait to see you on Sunrise!”

Georgie starts on air in the new role on Monday, 27 March.
