Ratings | Sky News achieves record audience share in 2024 – In 2024 Sky News Australia achieved its highest audience share ever across its multiplatform offering of linear broadcast channels, free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel, and digital platforms.
Sky News ranked as the #1 non-sport channel and #1 weekday channel on subscription television provider Foxtel, delivering a record audience share across the year, with average audiences up +4% year-on-year.
Regional free-to-air viewers watched Sky News Regional in unprecedented numbers, with the linear broadcast channel delivering its highest ever audience share, growing its average audience by +18%.
FAST TV channel Sky News Now increased its viewership by +142% year-on-year and has firmly established itself as the country’s premier free streaming news offering on Samsung TV Plus and LG Channels in Australia.
Sky News digital platforms also achieved a record year, delivering more than two billion video views.

SKY NEWS ON FOXTEL
In 2024, Sky News ranked as the #1 weekday channel on Foxtel, and for the sixth consecutive year holds onto the title of the #1 non-sport channel.
Sky News delivered its highest audience share ever of 3.9% (up from 3.1% in 2023), with average audiences up +4% year-on-year, reaching more than 2.2 million unique viewers.
The network’s America Decides 2024 US Presidential Election coverage (6 November 2024) saw audiences up +182% on the year-to-date average, with Sky News recording its highest audience share day ever at 10.7%, overtaking coverage of The Voice Referendum (14 October 2023), which achieved a 9.2% share.
Sky News ranked as the #1 channel during primetime weeknights (5pm – 11pm) with opinion programs including The Kenny Report, Credlin, The Bolt Report, Sharri, Paul Murray Live and The Late Debate driving strong evening audiences, up +8% year-on-year.
SKY NEWS REGIONAL
Regional free-to-air channel Sky News Regional delivered its highest rated year ever with average audiences up +18% year-on-year, reaching more than 2.8 million unique viewers.
The channel delivered a record audience share across the year of 2.6% (up from 2.1% in 2023), and a record audience share day of 7.3% for its coverage of the 2024 US Presidential Election.
Sky News Regional ranked as the #7 channel on regional free-to-air, its highest channel ranking to date, up five places from 2023.
Sky News Regional is broadcast on Channel 56 in 17 of SCA’s regional markets across Victoria, Southern NSW and Queensland and on WIN Network’s Channel 53 in Northern NSW.
SKY NEWS DIGITAL
In 2024 Sky News continued to invest and innovate to bring its content to Australians across a growing network of digital platforms, with Sky News content delivering a record two billion video views.
SkyNews.com.au increased its monthly audience year-on-year, now with an average of 3.4 million monthly Australian unique visitors. SkyNews.com.au is ranked as Australia’s #3 news website for video views in the official industry Ipsos ratings.
In January 2024 the SkyNews.com.au Streaming Subscription launched, a direct-to-consumer video streaming service providing the network’s highly engaged community of readers and viewers the opportunity to stream four Sky News produced channels through SkyNews.com.au or by downloading the Sky News Australia mobile and tablet app. Views on the Sky News Australia mobile app have increased by +98% year-on-year.
Sky News became the first Australian TV news channel page on YouTube to reach five million subscribers, with more than 4.7 million Australians watching on YouTube on average each month during 2024.
Sky News outperforms all Australian news brands on YouTube, is one of Australia’s top 10 YouTube channels across all genres and ranks as one of the top English-language news brands worldwide on total video views.
After successfully launching the FAST TV channel Sky News Now on Samsung TV Plus in 2023, the streaming channel debuted strongly on LG Channels Australia, becoming the most-viewed channel on the platform for total hours-streamed, and ranking as the #1 channel overall during key news moments, such as the day of the US Presidential Election to date. Overall viewership of Sky News Now has increased by +142% year-on-year.
