Postcards on Channel 9 and 9Now S27E15 – Join the Postcards team as Nick Cody, breakfast radio presenter and comedian, shows us around the inner-city suburb he proudly calls home, this Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now. Â
Guest presenter Nick takes viewers on a personal tour of his local suburb, Ascot Vale (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). He kicks things off at Little Byrd on Union Road, a cosy café with a warm community vibe, top-notch coffee and Mediterranean-inspired brunch dishes. Next he heads to Luke’s Banh Mi, where family recipes and fresh ingredients have earned this Vietnamese bakery a cult following and a lunchtime queue to match. Nick wraps up his tour at The Union Hotel, a no-fuss pub with a beer garden, live music and a menu stacked with comfort-food classics.
Brodie Harper explores elegant and artful Kew (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country).
She starts with a walk along the Anniversary Trail, a scenic 12-kilometre stretch tracing an old railway line through the heart of Melbourne’s east. After grabbing a brew from Briquettes, a tiny café big on charm and community spirit, she steps inside the Lyon Housemuseum, where one of Australia’s most impressive private art collections is on display. Brodie wraps up her visit at Barry’s Garage, a mechanics-shop-turned-sandwich haven and soon-to-be wine bar.
Madeline Spark is soaking up the vibrant lifestyle of South Melbourne (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country and Bunurong Country). She begins her day at Cheri Eatery, an elegant all-day café serving brunch staples, woodfired pizza and irresistible pastries. Swapping croissants for court shoes, she hits The Jar, one of the city’s only indoor pickleball venues. Maddie wraps things up at Lucia, a sleek restaurant tucked away on Eastern Road, where showstopping desserts, handcrafted cocktails and warm hospitality make every visit feel like a celebration.Â
And Livinia Nixon discovers the delights of Narre Warren (Bunurong Country), including the Fig & Fern café that serves up a wide menu of delicious meals for brunch.
From there she explores Bunjil Place, Narre Warren’s creative and cultural hub, visiting the Floribunda exhibition, a celebration of flowers curated in partnership with the NGV. She concludes her visit with lunch at Butler’s Kitchen, a venue that is part café, part restaurant, and known for a menu full of local produce which changes with the seasons.
