My Way on Channel 9 looks back at beloved stories – This week in a special edition, My Way returns to some of the best stories and most beloved characters from series past, Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Join us as we go walkabout, drop in on the over-50s surfing scene, and meet the Big Cheese of the goat world.
We journey once again to the rich heritage of the Kuku Yalanji people as Juan Walker leads trekkers through the sacred Mossman Gorge. The founder of Walkabout Cultural Adventure Tours shares his dedication to preserving his ancestral traditions while offering an immersive experience in traditional practices and ecological awareness. Juan is creating jobs for the locals and is committed to teaching First Nations history to ensure his knowledge is passed on to future generations.
Age is just a number for women’s surfing pioneer Peppie Simpson, who is passionate about teaching others to appreciate the benefits and exhilaration of board riding. This lifelong ocean lover encourages women, especially those over 50, to take up surfing. Through her involvement with the Wrecks and Relics competition, Peppie proves that the ocean waves belong to everyone, regardless of age.
Nestled in the tranquil Byfield Forest, Steve Bishopric and Sue McBurnie have turned their passion for pottery into a thriving artistic hub. Nob Creek Pottery invites visitors to explore their stunning ceramics which feature unique Byfield Fern imprints and enjoy hands-on workshops and bush walks, all while learning the story behind their vibrant studio.
Lastly, we revisit Karen Lindsey, who built her Little White Goat Cheese business on her farm at Wamuran. Initially making goat’s milk soap for her grandkids, she started a cheese-making class and now, 15 years later, supplies her renowned Persian Goat Feta to top restaurants, supermarkets and local shops. During COVID she created a revolutionary freeze-dried version of feta with an extended shelf life, and today, from modest beginnings, Karen really has become the Big Cheese.
