JOHANNA + ADAM + AIMEE – WORLDSKILLS AUSTRALIA: NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2023
Worldskills Australia, affectionately known as the ‘Tradie Olympics’, is the biggest competition for apprentice tradespeople in the nation. With over 60 trades and 500 contenders, every vocation you can think of is there, from fixing cars, to cooking and nursing and everything in between. Having won a regional competition already, all the competitors at the Nationals are now vying for a trip to Paris to represent their country on the international stage.
Join Johanna, Adam and Aimee as they tour the floor and speak to a handful of apprentices and judges to find out more. The level of skills on display is high, so it’s fair to say the future of trades in Australia is in good hands.
FAST ED – SPRING ROLLED LAMB LEG WITH GREEN OLIVES, SWEET-AND-SOUR PUMPKIN AND WALNUTS
What better way to kick off a new season than with a tasty leg of lamb, and Ed’s going to show you how to roast the perfect leg. Instead of just throwing it in the oven like a normal leg, he’ll show you how to butterfly it and roll it up with a delicious olive and breadcrumb stuffing. But you can’t just have lamb on its own, so a sumptuous accompaniment comes in the form of sweet and sour pumpkin and candied walnuts for a lovely family dinner.
FAST ED – BETTER BASICS: RISOTTO
Mastering the risotto can be difficult, but with Ed’s surefire tips, your next risotto will actually resemble the creamy Italian rice dish it’s supposed to be. Whilst chopping vegetables to go in it, no ingredients will go to waste, with the trimmings going into a stock to make the rice even tastier. There may be a few steps involved but practice makes perfect!
CHARLIE – TRINCOMALEE WALKAROUND WITH RICHARD UNSWORTH
One reason we love our gardens is they’re a secluded spot to retreat to. Tonight, Charlie’s found a garden so secluded, it’s on an island that can only be reached by boat. It’s the passion project of garden designer Richard Unsworth, who set about redressing the balance with nature whilst also using negative space to provide areas to be sat in and enjoyed. It’s a garden that doesn’t shout about its achievements or features, rather it revels in the serenity it creates.
