23rd Annual SPA Awards & SCREEN FOREVER Dates Announced For 2025 – Today, Screen Producers Australia (SPA) is pleased to announce the 2025 dates for Australia’s premier screen industry event, SCREEN FOREVER, and the return of the prestigious SPA Awards, an annual celebration of unique storytellers and creativity, both to be held once more on Queensland’s iconic Gold Coast.

The 39th iteration of SCREEN FOREVER will take place in 2025. In a change from previous years, the Online Global Market, which opens opportunities to connect with global buyers and commissioners, will take place from Tuesday, 29 – Wednesday, 30 April. The following week, local and international industry delegates will arrive in Queensland’s Gold Coast for the in-person event, which will take place from Tuesday, 6 – Thursday, 8 May.

Once again, the SPA Awards will take place on the final evening of the SCREEN FOREVER conference, Thursday, 8 May. They recognise SPA members’ outstanding screen industry contributions and are the only Awards voted solely by our screen businesses whose work drives Australian storytelling. The eligibility period for the upcoming Awards encompasses Monday, 1 January – Tuesday, 31 December 2024.

SPA CEO Matthew Deaner said,

“The annual SPA Awards provide a critical platform to recognise and honour the extraordinary talent, entrepreneurship, and innovation across the SPA membership.  SPA’s members are the industry leaders: the businesses and people who take their custodianship of the sector seriously by building our industry through a common purpose and shared collaboration.  These same people take on the risk and responsibility for screen production, bringing together and guiding our creative talent and workforce to deliver stories our industry is renowned for locally and internationally.  It is fitting they are acknowledged and honoured at the highest level through these peer-assessed awards.”

Since 2000, the peer-voted SPA Awards have aimed to capture the full scope of screen production and producers involved in Australia. They have been an opportunity for screen professionals to applaud the collective successes of colleagues and peers who have shared Australia’s bold and unique culture with audiences far and wide.

The 23rd Annual SPA Awards Entry & Category Guidelines released today include nomination eligibility information for each of the nineteen categories and all other SPA Awards details.

The upcoming SPA Awards continue to honour success across all genres and platforms. They will see the return of esteemed award categories, including Children’s Production of the Year, Drama Series Production of the Year, Feature Documentary Production of the Year, Breakthrough Business of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Media Super Production Business of the Year.

Early bird entries open from Friday, 6 – Friday, 20 September, with all entries closing Friday, 4 October 2024.

All financial members of SPA are eligible to enter. For enquiries relating to the SPA Awards Entry & Category Guidelines or any SPA Awards-related queries, don’t hesitate to contact SPA’s Membership, Licensing & Inclusion Manager Brad Taylor at membership@screenproducers.org.au.
