21st Annual SPA Awards – Today Screen Producers Australia (SPA) announced that comedian, writer, presenter, and social media sensation Mel Buttle will once again head to Queensland’s glittering Gold Coast to host the 21st Annual SPA Awards, taking place at The Star Gold Coast on Friday 05 May 2023 as part of SCREEN FOREVER 37.

For those attending the full conference, entry is included in your Gold Coast pass. For those not attending the full conference, tickets for the SPA Awards including the SCREEN FOREVER Gala Party are now on sale.

Mel Buttle is a performance powerhouse, boasting a prolific and award-winning stand-up career spanning over a decade, fostering her reputation as one of the most charismatic comedians on Australia’s live comedy circuit.

With an infectious sense of humour, her potential to captivate audiences didn’t go unnoticed and Mel has co-hosted the hugely popular The Great Australian Bake Off and spent some time in the jungle in the seventh series of the Network Ten favourite reality show, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia.

Now a household name, audiences will know her as the Australian Team Captain from the SBS comedy quiz show Patriot Brains, as well as appearances on ABC TV’s Question Everything, The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, Australia Debates, Network Ten’s Would I Lie to You? The Project, This Week Live, Hughesy We Have a Problem, It’s A Date, and Seven Network’s Australia Now & Then.

Since her first solo show in 2010 social channels have come a long way, and now Mel has also managed to become a social media phenomenon in her spare time, with her beloved Mum/Lyn character becoming a break-out star in her own right due to her witty observational takes on the absurdities of modern life.

The SPA Awards are a rare annual opportunity for industry practitioners to gather and collectively applaud excellence in the Australian screen production industry. Entry to the ceremony is and has historically been included in a SCREEN FOREVER 37 Gold Coast Pass.

This year SPA has decided to open sales for tickets to the ceremony to SPA members and non-members, not registered as Gold Coast pass holders to SCREEN FOREVER 37, providing an enticing opportunity to anyone with a passion for storytelling to join a night of jubilation, celebrating Australian stories on screen. The SPA Awards tickets will also include entry into the Screen Forever Gala Party to be held immediately following the Awards Ceremony.

With limited tickets remaining, delegates are encouraged to register early to secure their spot at www.screenforever.org.au.

More information on SCREEN FOREVER 37 can be found at www.screenforever.org.au.

SPA Awards ticket member price $200, purchase HERE.
