Mega Easter of sport on Seven

Mega Easter of sport on Seven – AFL, Autumn Racing Carnival, World Surf League, Stawell Gift, VFL, SANFL and WAFL, all live and free on Seven and 7plus

Sport fans are set for an epic Easter of sport on the Seven Network, starting tonight and featuring five straight days of unmissable live and free action on Seven and 7plus.

The Easter extravaganza kicks off when the Brisbane Lions host Collingwood tonight for Thursday Night Footy at the Gabba, broadcast live and free on Channel 7 and 7mate from 7.00pm AEDT.

On Friday, AFL fans will be in for an Easter treat when North Melbourne take on Carlton in the annual Good Friday SuperClash at Marvel Stadium from 4.00pm AEDT, during Seven’s 67th annual Good Friday Appeal broadcast, which continues through until midnight on Channel 7 Melbourne and 7plus nationally.

As the Good Friday Appeal and Seven join forces on a special day, Seven’s Dale Thomas will be joined by 2022 NAB Auskicker of the Year and fan favourite, nine-year-old Archie Stockdale, in field commentary for this year’s SuperClash match.

Rounding out the weekend’s feast of football are:

• Port Adelaide v Melbourne at Adelaide Oval on Saturday from 7.00pm AEDT on Channel 7 and 7mate

• The legendary Easter Monday clash between Hawthorn and Geelong at the MCG from 2.30pm AEDT on Channel 7 and 7mate

Footy fans in NSW, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia can also watch every game involving teams from their home states live and free on Seven.

In a boost for state league footy fans, the opening rounds of SANFL, WAFL and Round Two of the VFL will be streamed live and free on 7plus, starting with the SANFL’s North Adelaide v Centrals clash, from 1.30pm ACDT on Friday. WAFL fans will be treated to a Grand Final re-match between Peel Thunder and East Fremantle at 1.30pm AWST on Saturday, before Sandringham host Essendon in the VFL from 2.00pm AEDT on Sunday afternoon.

The surfing action continues this week live and free on 7plus for the remainder of the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour’s Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach, where Aussie superstar Ethan Ewing is still in contention to win back-to-back Bells titles, alongside 52-year-old, 11-time World Champion Kelly Slater who claimed his first Bells victory 30 years prior.

In what would be an incredible story for Australia, Barwon Heads local high school student Ellie Harrison will also hit the waves again in the coming days and she looks to take out the title in her first ever WSL Championship Tour event, in her own backyard.

At Rosehill Gardens, Seven’s #1 horse racing team will also deliver all the action live from Tancred Stakes Day which includes a fascinating edition of the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes where New Zealand wonder filly Orchestral will make her Australian debut with champion jockey James McDonald.

Australian filly Zardozi will be looking to spoil the party with Tom Marquand to combine with the last-start winner for trainer James Cummings.
A pivotal day on the racing calendar, Australian Cup Day presents a fitting finale to the Flemington Racing Spectacular, headlined by the $3 million Group 1 TAB Australian Cup feature race.

Mr Brightside and Pride Of Jenni will battle again, in what looks likely to be another thrilling contest in their rivalry. But it’s more than just a two-horse race with Australian Cup defending champion Cascadian and Champions Stakes winner Atishu set to add some class in the time-honoured feature.

In the lead-up to the Hawthorn v Geelong AFL blockbuster on Easter Monday, Seven will bring fans the 142nd running of Australia’s richest footrace, the Stawell Gift, from 11.30am AEDT on Channel 7 and 7plus. Fans can also tune into the prior two days of the Stawell Gift on Saturday, 30 March and Sunday, 31 March on 7plus.

Managing Director Seven Melbourne and Head of Network Sport, Lewis Martin, said:

“There is something for absolutely everyone on the Seven Network this Easter.

“With the footy blockbuster on Thursday night, three highly anticipated rounds of state league footy, Sydney and Melbourne Autumn racing, the world’s best surfers at Bells Beach and the iconic Stawell Gift, these five days are a dream for sports lovers.

“With wall-to-wall sport for the entire long weekend, there’s only one place to catch all the action live and free, right here on Seven, Your Home of Sport.”
