Women Beyond Bollywood on SBS Viceland – India’s cinema industry is the largest in the world, and Bollywood is its flagship, featuring stars, music, drama, humour – and unfortunately, sexism.
Now a crop of bold films, made by women, is shaking Bollywood’s foundations. A new generation of filmmakers is finally showing women as more than eye candy or appendages to larger than life male heroes.
Women Beyond Bollywood is about bold female directors and the new mindset that nurtures their vision.
Women Beyond Bollywood will air in alignment with Diwali and will be available to stream free on SBS On Demand.
