Series One, Episode One: A Dream is Born From History
Archaeologists, medieval experts and local boat builders have gathered in Norway to explore the secrets found in the skeletal remains of ancient Viking ships, and in the texts of old Norse sagas.
Their goal? To design and construct the largest Viking recreation ship ever imagined. Led by a billionaire visionary and a multi-national crew, the ‘Draken’ will attempt to trace the expeditions of Leif Ericson and Eric the Red to Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland and beyond.
Series One, Episode Two: The Trial of Trials
In Norway, the Viking recreation ship ‘Draken’ has been launched, and its billionaire owner has chosen a captain to lead the ship and crew through lengthy sea trials to prepare for a transatlantic odyssey.
But before they even leave shore, they must confront their first major hurdle – the ship’s inspectors. The builders must weigh historical authenticity with safety if they ever hope to get the ‘Draken’ approved for sea travel. But once at sea, the real challenges begin.
