Eddie Murphy: Hollywood’s Black King on SBS Viceland –A popular icon in the 1980s and 1990s and a genius comedian, Eddie Murphy has never stopped challenging America on its identity issues.
Coming back after a 25-year hiatus, the first great Black hero of cinema appears today as a precursor who revolutionised the image of African Americans and opened many doors for his community.
He started off as a small stand-up artist still unknown in 1980, a genius cartoonist, and then the highest paid comedian on American TV. Eddie Murphy was above all the ultra-desirable and hilarious media icon of American multiculturalism.
He is finally being celebrated everywhere and by everyone for his positive influence on the evolution of mentalities, and his contribution to the recognition of a certain ‘identity humour’.
