Network 10 launches 10+1, giving viewers a second chance to catch their favourite shows – Network 10 is giving Australians a little extra time in the evenings, announcing the launch of 10+1, a new time-shifted channel that will broadcast Channel 10 programming exactly one hour later.
Launching on Monday, 10 August, 10+1 will be available on Channel 14 in metropolitan markets, offering viewers another opportunity to watch everything from reality television and drama to entertainment and sport.
Channel 10… just an hour later
The concept behind 10+1 is simple: take the existing Channel 10 schedule and replay it 60 minutes later.
That means viewers who miss the start of MasterChef Australia, get caught up at dinner time or spend too long searching for the TV remote can tune into Channel 14 and catch up without needing to stream on demand.
In announcing the new service, Network 10 took a light-hearted approach to the launch.
“We looked at what Australians needed most and the answer was obvious: more time. We can’t slow the Earth’s rotation, but we can put your favourite shows on an hour later. Close enough,” the network said.
A familiar line-up with a delayed start
The new channel will carry the full Channel 10 schedule, shifted one hour behind the main broadcast.
That includes drama, reality programming, entertainment formats and sport.
However, the network has cautioned that viewers seeking live events and breaking news should continue watching Channel 10.
“10+1 is a time shifted service, so for breaking news and live sport, Channel 10 is still your go-to. We would feel bad if you found out who left the MasterChef kitchen an hour late and blamed us,” 10 said.
No subscriptions required
Unlike streaming services that require passwords, subscriptions or internet access, 10+1 will be available free-to-air.
Viewers may need to perform a quick channel rescan on their televisions or set-top boxes to access the new service.
The launch reflects the continuing evolution of free-to-air television, offering audiences greater flexibility while maintaining the simplicity that traditional broadcasting provides.
Or, as Network 10 puts it:
“Channel 14. It’s Channel 10. Just later. That’s genuinely it. We’re very proud.”
