Steve Hart joins WIN News – WIN News today announced the appointment of Steve Hart to the Network Presentation team, where he will helm prime time news bulletins across the country.
This year marks 30 years in broadcasting for Steve and the network is thrilled to have such a respected reporter joining its ranks.
WIN’s Director of News Stella Lauri said,
“We are extremely lucky to have someone with the breadth of experience as Steve. His knowledge ranges from sports and general news to crime, having spent two decades on the road covering some of the nation’s biggest breaking stories.”
Steve has expressed his delight at joining the team:

Hart’s career began in regional radio at 2LF Young, NSW, as the Breakfast host, and by the late ’90s, he had transitioned to South Australia, where he became the night jock at TRIPLE M Adelaide.
His passion for sports eventually led him to television, where he joined Network Ten’s Sports News team in late 1999. He soon took on a prominent role in hosting and reporting for the popular Sports Tonight program, covering major events such as the Sydney 2000 Olympics, NRL Grand Finals, and numerous State of Origin campaigns. Steve also exclusively broke the NSW Blue Bonding scandal in 2004.
After nearly a decade at Network Ten, he moved to Fox Sports News, where he served as a Sports News presenter and the NRL Insider. During this time, live-rolling coverage became a staple of his work, keeping viewers informed on breaking sports news.
In 2018, he returned to Network Ten in a brand-new role as police and crime reporter. This position was a wonderful new challenge that saw him cover some of Australia’s most horrific crimes, including extensive coverage of Sydney’s deadly gangland wars between the Hamzys and Allemedines.
His work also extended to investigations and cold cases, such as the disappearance of William Tyrrell and the 2001 case of missing Bathurst woman Janine Vaughan, which was featured extensively in Hedley Thomas’s podcast ‘The Night Driver’.
In mid-2022, he joined Seven News Brisbane as a senior investigative journalist and was immediately thrust into covering some of the most harrowing stories of our time, including the police shootings at Wieambilla and the Sea World helicopter tragedy for a week on the Gold Coast in early 2023.
When not at the news desk, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, supporting his beloved St George Illawarra Dragons NRL team, and fronting his rock cover band “Steve Hart & The All Stars”. Steve’s new role as WIN News Network Presenter is effective as of Monday 16 September 2024.
