Sky News Investigation Tech Tyrants: Facebook’s War – The devastating impact from Facebook’s bombshell move to stop paying for news content in Australia is revealed in an exclusive Sky News investigation.

Tech Tyrants: Facebook’s War on Australia, which premieres on Wednesday 13 March at 8.30pm AEDT on Sky News Australia, blows the lid on the ruthless side to the billionaire boss of Facebook, and parent company Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, and his declaration of war on Australian news.

Sky News Investigative Reporter Jonathan Lea uncovers how Facebook’s decision to pull the plug on news content will affect millions of Australian social media users, while also exposing them to the growing dangers of misinformation.

In a rare television event, Lea speaks to both leaders of the nation’s biggest commercial media giants – Executive Chairman of News Corp Australia Michael Miller, and the CEO of Nine Entertainment Mike Sneesby – on the threat to Australia from Zuckerberg and Meta, a company worth almost two trillion dollars.

Lea also hears from the whistleblower who bravely exposed Facebook’s malicious business tactics to US Congress, as well as Australian Communications Minister, Michelle Rowland, on her fight to protect the future of Australian news.

In a contemptuous move against government legislation, Facebook temporarily blocked Australian news pages in 2021, and did the same in Canada last year. Will Facebook again seek to shutdown Australians’ access to credible news content from all its platforms?

Tech Tyrants: Facebook’s War on Australia – Wednesday 13 March at 8.30pm AEDT
