To retrace the famous journey of Marco Polo from Venice to Beijing along the Silk Road. But Stanley & co only got as far as the Chinese border before they ran out of time and had to turn back.
Ever since then, Stanley – successful author, environmentalist, ex MEP and father of former British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson – has dreamt about finishing what he started. In this series, he finally gets that chance.
Stanley – accompanied by his youngest son Max – sets off from China’s far western border with Pakistan to undertake an epic Silk Road journey of some 5,000km to Beijing. An epic and gloriously shot series that reflects both ancient and modern China, the father-and-son duo follow the ancient trading route taken by the Venetian merchant, Marco Polo, 700 years ago.
