7/7: The London Bombings on SBS and SBS on Demand S1E3 and S1E4 – On 7th July 2005, 4 terrorists detonated bombs on London’s transport system.
52 people were killed. Hundreds injured. It was the worst attack of its kind on English soil and began one of the most chaotic and significant moments in the history of the capital.
Another series of attempted bombings followed. In the subsequent manhunt the police shot dead Jean Charles de Menezes, an innocent man. This is the story of the police investigation over three weeks, forensically told, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day.
Episode Three:
Two weeks after the 7/7 attack the police are on the trail of the bombers. On 21/7 there’s another attack. Four bombers are on the run, and the manhunt leads to a catastrophic shooting.
Episode Four:
Have the police shot one of the bombers or made a big mistake? The rest remain at large as the police investigate every tip off. Dramatic arrests follow and the survivors reflect.
