In Ooops! I Bought a Pub!, Shane Jacobson dives headfirst into the ultimate country adventure — transforming a tired old pub in the tiny Victorian town of Dederang into the beating heart of the community once again.
Because in country towns, the pub is far more than a place for a cold beer. It’s where locals gather after a long day, where stories are shared, deals are made, celebrations are held and communities come together. It’s the social hub — the living room of the valley.
There’s just one problem. Shane has no experience running a pub, the place needs a massive renovation, and he foolishly books in a wedding that will need to fit in amongst the chaos!
Across six entertaining and heartwarming episodes, Shane and his mate Dean Murphy assemble a colourful team of locals, tradies and experts to pull off the impossible.
Along the way we meet the characters who make country towns tick — including beloved publican Dave McKnight, straight-shooting plumbers the Tonkin Group (who insist on calling Shane “Kenny”), returning local chef Ali McKilliop, and a cast of colourful locals determined to keep the pub alive during the chaos.
With the kitchen out of action, a temporary food truck steps in to feed the locals — though it seems to break down almost daily. And the Portaloos installed during renovations are funny at first… but after five months, the joke starts wearing thin.
From septic tank dramas and building chaos to football clubs, dairy farms and the wildest of weather, the road to reopening the pub is anything but smooth. But if they can pull it off, the reward will be more than a renovated building. It will be the return of the town’s true meeting place — the Dederang Hotel.

Shane’s pub reno spirals with crumbling walls and chaos everywhere. He promises a wedding in 8 weeks, in a demolition zone. Now the pressure’s on to pull off the impossible.
