Postcards on Channel 9 and 9Now (22 September) – Join the Postcards team this week as the team travel from the CBD and surrounding suburbs to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Livinia Nixon takes us out to three CBD (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) spots that do a great mid-week grab-and-go lunch. She starts at the charming French Fix for a taste of Parisian delights including a mouthwatering baguette. At Goz City, she dives into the delicious fresh gozleme. Livinia wraps up with an onigiri at the Onigiri Kitchen & Sake Bar, where Japanese flavors take centre stage.
Kris Smith takes us to the Bayside suburbs Ormond and Caulfield South (Boonwurrung Country) to uncover some hidden gems in the local food and drink scene.
His first stop is Sebby’s Scrolls, where he meets owners Sebastian Castro and Annabelle Strahan, who turned their lockdown baking into a beloved business known for its cinnamon scrolls. Moving on to the Velo Rapport Café, he hears about its unique atmosphere and The White Bike Foundation, which supports cyclists’ safety, from owner Chris Savage. Kris caps off the day discovering the charm of the Arcadia Whisky Lounge, a hidden speakeasy offering a cozy retreat and top-notch whisky.
Meanwhile, Shane Delia is exploring the Sunshine Coast hinterland (Gubbi Gubbi Country), showcasing a fabulous car and caravan package. Mater Cars For Cancer are giving viewers the chance to win a Ford F150 Lariat and Vacatione Roughrider Caravan in their latest prize package. It’s their biggest lottery yet, valued at over $410,000. After Shane has a chat with Professor Brian Gabrielli, Professional Research Fellow at Mater Research, he checks out The Long Apron, a hatted restaurant offering an elegant taste of France in the heart of the hinterland.
And back down south, Madeline Spark takes us on a drive through Panton Hill and surrounds (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). She starts at Shaws Road Winery for a tasting and a chat with viticulturist John Apted, before making her way to Gallery 7 six 5 to admire some local artwork and meet owner and artist Benny Archer. She ends the day at one of her favourite pubs, the Panton Hill Hotel, where she digs into her favourite meal accompanied by the owner, Michael Trovatello.
