Postcards on Channel 9 – Join the Postcards team and guest presenter Bonnie Anderson as she takes viewers backstage for one of Melbourne’s most magical shows, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Bonnie is in the CBD where A Christmas Carol at the Comedy Theatre (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) is back for another year, with a new Ebenezer Scrooge, played by Owen Teale. After meeting him Bonnie visits Dance World Studios in South Melbourne where rehearsals are taking place. Supervisor Sharon Williams talks her through the amazing costumes and props. In keeping with the English theme, Bonnie heads back to the CBD to The Sherlock Holmes Inn on Collins Street for a classic feed of bangers and mash with a serving of sticky date pudding on the side.
Shane Delia takes a ferry ride to Portarlington (Wathaurong Country). Before hopping on the ferry at the Victoria Harbour terminal in Docklands, he grabs a snack and coffee at the Ferry Cafe and he’s on his way. Just 70 minutes later he arrives in Portarlington to take full advantage of Port Phillip Ferries’ day out packages. Shane chooses A Grand Day Out Package that includes a stop at the Portarlington Grand Hotel, which has recently undergone a major refurbishment.
He meets general manager Mark Henderson to hear about the revamp and also Jai Sidhu, the head chef.
Madeline Spark is on a road trip to Woodend (Dja Dja Wurrung, Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Taungurong Country). First up she visits Fox In The Chamber, a warm and welcoming space created by Bonnie and Remy Sowman and housed in one of Woodend’s most historic buildings, the Old Council Chambers. Then,15 minutes from town, she pops into Romswood Peony Farm to meet owner Virginia McIntosh. She ends her day trip with a traditional Japanese meal at Kuzu Izakaya while catching up with the owner, Gareth.
And Livinia Nixon meets the finalists of this year’s City of Melbourne Awards in the CBD. To learn more about the awards, she catches up with Lord Mayor Sally Capp at Caffe E Torta on Little Collins Street, then Young Melburnian of the Year Georgie Stone at one of her favourite city spots, Left Bank Melbourne on Southbank. Lastly, she heads to the Malthouse Theatre to meet Mish Grigor, Co-Artistic Director of APHIDS and who is recognised in the Arts and Events Category.
