Recap | Married at First Sight Season 12 Episode 38 – the latest episode recap on TV Central from Channel 9. Watch the show on 9Now.

Bonjour! Were we in the middle of something?

Oh, oui oui.

Stream every episode of Married At First Sight for free on 9Now

Paul had just taken a biiiig breath before laying his heart on the line, as Final Vows continues.

So far, we’ve had Jamie and Dave make the decision to stay together and Awhina and Adrian decide to… not, but then very quickly change their minds.

Hopefully Carina and Paul will be a little less confusing.

Carina and Paul

Unsurprisingly, Paul’s vows are full of admiration for Carina.

He says it felt like fate brought them back together at the aisle, after he originally ghosted her after one date in the real world.

He praises the way her family embraced him and talks about his deep feelings for her, as she stood by him despite his mistakes.

Now, he’s hoping she’ll get over his biggest one yet: going on the Final Task date.

“Despite everything, we’ve always managed to come back to each other, to forgive and to move forward. There’s not a doubt in my mind that you are the one for me, and I never want to risk letting you go again,” he says.Play Video

Paul’s Final Vows: Groom makes final plea for forgiveness

Then he brings out the big guns… a.k.a the French language.

Carina deems his vows “sweet”, with a smile that definitely does not reach her eyes.

Now it’s her turn.

She speaks of their immediate spark and how at ease she felt in the early days of their marriage. She says she opened herself up and believed in their potential.

But then, well, he screwed up. Multiple times.

“You made a decision that would deeply impact our relationship – you chose to go on a date with another woman,” she says.

Paul gulps. Yeah, he remembers.

Carina and Paul’s Final Vows

“Love shouldn’t be this hard.”

As Carina talks about how we are all human and make mistakes, you can see the hope in his eyes.

“As a Christian, I’ve been taught to forgive. I can’t ignore the good times in this experiment where you made me feel special and cared for and loved,” she reads, becoming emotional.

“However,” she continues, as Paul’s face drops.

Uh oh. (Nine)

Carina sobs through her decision; that she deserves a life partner she can trust.

”A few weeks ago, this decision would’ve been easy for me. There would be no question I’d want to stay with you, but you threw it all away in a selfish act,” she reads.Play Video

Then, the final blow:

“Paul, I was yours. You had me and you ruined it, and now you’re going to have to live with that for the rest of your life.”

He is gobsmacked.

Through tears, he apologises yet again and asks if she’ll ever be able to “forget about it” in the future.

With one last shake of her head, she walks away and he becomes visibly emotional.

Afterwards, she says she simply couldn’t move past the ick of him disrespecting their relationship.

He says he’s heartbroken and tells a producer he wishes he could tell her to “try a little harder to move past it”.

“A part of me is still hoping that she’s going to regret that decision and she’ll reach out and she’ll decide to continue,” he explains.

“If she does I’ll be here with open arms.”

I wouldn’t hold your breath, Paul.

Rhi and Jeff

Rhi and Jeff don’t need to weigh anything up with concerned friends or relatives. Seriously, has there ever been a more sure thing?

They say their goodbyes to their apartment and to each other, but surely not for long because Rhi literally already has a key to his apartment.

They separately reflect on their unusual journey from dating to friendzone to dating again, and now being well on their way to falling in love.

They’re both confident and excited about their vows, because duh.

Will Jeff admit he’s falling for Rhi?

Jeff goes first, telling “Rhi Rhi” how his feelings blossomed throughout the experiment.

“I started to picture our future together and I knew I wanted you around as much as possible, which I why I gave you a key to my home,” he says.

With high risk comes high reward, “and the reward is you, Rhi”.Play Video

Jeff’s Final Vows: Groom professes his love to wife Rhi

He vows to cook her food, steam her dresses, laugh and most importantly, continue to grow their relationship.

“I can confidently say, Rhi, I am falling in love with you. Rhi, you’re it for me. I choose you and I hope this is forever,” he says, earning him a biiiig hug from a beaming Rhi.

Her vows to “Jeffie” are just a disgustingly adorable.

”You are worth every day, every week, every month it takes to discover our happily ever after. You tick every single box.”Play Video

Rhi’s Final Vows: Bride pours her heart out to husband Jeff

She promises her time, affection and support going forward, but most importantly she promises that she will eat the food he earlier promised to make her.

“We made it!” they yell in celebration.

Of course they did, and thank goodness for that.

Jacqui and Ryan

The last time we saw these two, Ryan was angry after Jacqui confessed that she’d given Rory, her match from the Final Task, her number.

And this is them now:

Jacqui and Ryan say goodbye to their love shrine

It seems like they’re leaving the experiment in a really good place, but then comes the opportunity to watch their wedding video.

And what is meant to be a romantic reminder of their beginnings leads to a major backflip for Jacqui.

It all changed before they even got to the first dance drop! (Nine)

“I feel this gut feeling of like, this relationship isn’t good for me,” she reflects afterwards.

They each return home to mull their decisions over pros and cons lists and ancient swords.

While being home with dog Freya and his Dragonball Z décor calms Ryan, he can’t help missing the chaos that is Jacqui.

Jacqui, though, feels the exact opposite.

”I think Ryan has shown a real lack of impressiveness. Like, he’s just underwhelming,” she says, declaring herself done.

To cap it off, she’s drafted “some iconic lines” to roast him.Play Video

Jacqui and Ryan return home to make their final decisions

Meanwhile, a torn Ryan goes to his besties Adam and Karla for advice.

And judging how their last meet-up went, I think I know which way they’re going to tell him to go.

“My honest opinion is I think he should bail, and I think he should cut ties completely,” Adam advises. Yep, saw that one coming.Play Video

Ryan’s friends dish out some honest advice about his future with Jacqui

Their advice helps give Ryan some clarity, and I can only hope he too is off to write some iconic lines.

Finally, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for.

Jacqui and Ryan greet each other with forced smiles that to be honest, look more like grimaces.

Jacqui is excited to blow Ryan away with her vows, which she believes will go down in history.

But first, it’s his turn.

He starts with a joke about his “dip malfunction” that sadly, only he laughs at.

MAFS 2025 Ryan
I appreciate his commitment to the very stale gag. (Nine)

”Jacqui, we were wild, wonderful and weird as hell,” Ryan continues, in the understatement of the year.

He rattles off a list of pros and cons, such as his early worry about being shacked up with a “high-maintenance nightmare”, how nice her hair is even when it’s tangled and uh… their… intimacy.

“Thank you,” Jacqui replies.

Oh my god, help. I feel like I am watching a car crash in slow motion.

Ryan’s Final Vows: Groom reflects on ‘wild’ and ‘weird’ marriage to Jacqui

Then he critiques her many, many critiques of him: “A healthy relationship is not a performance review.”

Okay, Ryan has iconic lines too!

He says they aren’t strong enough to continue their relationship outside of the experiment and he is walking away.

“For that, and for saying you had crazy eyes, I am sorry,” he concludes.

MAFS 2025 Jacqui
Kudos for paitiently biding her time to hit back at his iconic lines with her iconic lines. (Nine)

”Hit me with it” Ryan goes to say, but he really didn’t need to because Jacqui is READY.

She jumps in immediately, cutting him off.

Unlike Ryan, Jacqui doesn’t really want to reflect on any positives. In fact, she says they were only possible because she was so understanding and empathetic.

“If this experiment taught me anything, it’s that you shouldn’t try and fix your husband. He needs to do the work on his own,” she says. “I am not a rehabilitation centre…”

Ryan scoffs and laughs, calling that ridiculous.

“Don’t call my Final Vows ridiculous, that’s not nice,” she… dare I say… scolds?

EMBARGO 31/05/25 9PM MAFS 2025 Jacqui and Ryan Final Vows
Jacqui was right when she complimented Ryan on his great reactions the other week. (Nine)

Among her problems are his ego, pride and that he supposedly “planned a gang attack” on her when they met up with his friends during Homestays.

“Today I choose peace and to walk away from this relationship. Ryan, in a world of red flags, you are the red carpet,” she says.

After that bombshell, Jacqui finally gets to a positive: she loves his biceps.

Fair enough.Play Video

Jacqui’s Final Vows: Bride doesn’t hold back in bold speech to husband

EXCLUSIVE: Jacqui reflects on how Ryan did something ‘no one’s done before’ at Final Vows – as he talks ‘heartbreaking’ moment it all ended

They walk off as Ryan yells: “Goodbye and thanks for all the criticism. You really haven’t grown, not one bit. Be gone with you, you horrible woman.”

Jacqui, meanwhile, lets out a “woohoo!”

As she celebrates, a producer asks if she’s planning to get back into the dating scene.

“I am hopeful that I will find my person, I just don’t know when it’s going to be. I have a feeling that it’s gonna happen sooner than I think though,” she replies.

Suddenly, we’re in… Tasmania? A man is driving a Ferrari.

MAFS 2025 Clint
HUH???????? (Nine)

Ryan’s voiceover says he feels sorry for the next man to cross Jacqui’s path, as this mystery man tees off at golf.

“Princess Jacqui wants her doormat of a man,” Ryan continues.

WAIT A DAMN SECOND.

IS THAT…. CLINT?Play Video

A shocking development about Jacqui’s love life emerges

Wow, an iconic scene.

We had no doubt, but this and well and truly confirms we have one very spicy reunion to look forward to.

Tune in Sunday at 7pm for the Reunion Dinner Party, because the experiment may be over, but the drama is not!
