Ratings 2025 | Channel 9 is #1 in Brisbane – The 9Network continues its dominance as the No.1 network in 2025, leading with Total People and all key demographics in the Brisbane metro market, which includes the Gold Coast.

By the end of the 2025 ratings calendar, the network’s sustained popularity in Brisbane is reflected in a commanding Total People network share of 47.1%, surpassing Seven’s 34.7% and Ten’s 18.2%. The 9Network also achieved a clean sweep across all advertiser-preferred demographics, including People 25-54, People 16-39, and GS18+.

Kylie Blucher, Managing Director of Nine Queensland and Northern New South Wales, said:

“The success we’ve celebrated this year is a direct result of the incredible efforts of our entire Nine Queensland team. 9News Queensland has dominated Queensland television screens all year with viewers clearly welcoming our new presenting duo Melissa Downes and Joel Dry, underlining our position as the state’s most trusted news bulletin.

“We’ve not only upheld our ratings lead with flagship programs like 9News Queensland, 9News Gold Coast, A Current Affair, and Today, but our strong commitment to sport continues to strike a chord with our local audience, particularly through our coverage of the State of Origin, the NRL Grand Final, and the Brisbane Broncos Welcome Home coverage.

“This has been a landmark year for Nine Queensland. We have cemented our position as the state’s most trusted network by continuing to produce compelling content that resonates deeply with Queensland viewers. From our ratings dominance to the incredible impact of our community initiatives, 2025 has delivered truly remarkable achievements, and we look forward to continuing this momentum in 2026.”

2025 Ratings Victories

9News

9News, presented by Melissa Downes and Joel Dry, reinforced its position as the most trusted and dominant local news bulletin, winning the 2025 ratings year. 9News Monday to Friday 6.00pm-7.00pm topped every week of the 40-week ratings calendar.

In the Sunday and Saturday 6.00pm to 7.00pm timeslot, presented by Mia Glover on weekends, the combined bulletins achieved a dominant 35 weeks out of the 40-week period.

9News 4.00pm

Adding to the stellar results, 9News 4.00pm, presented by Aislin Kriukelis and Alison Ariotti, also achieved significant success, winning every survey week it was on air, proving its competitive strength in the market.

A Current Affair

A Current Affair was the No.1 daily current affairs program in Brisbane. It won 39 out of 40 survey week periods. It has achieved 7.9% growth in TTV average audience in Brisbane. It has also achieved a 4.6% increase in Broadcast average audience and a staggering 41.6% growth in BVOD audience.

Today

Brisbane wakes up with Today, the city’s leading breakfast program, consistently outpacing its competition. In 2025, Today dominated the market, leading for 37 weeks out of the 40 survey weeks it was on air. Today’s continued success year-on-year reflects its strong connection with viewers, solidifying its position as the go-to morning program.

NRL

The 2025 NRL Grand Final was Nine’s highest rating program of the year, and the highest rating program on Australian television. Taking out our second spot was Game 3 of The 2025 State of Origin Series followed by Game 1 and 2 with the third and fourth spot, consecutively.

In 2025, Nine Queensland continued to set the standard for premium local programming, delivering captivating content that resonates deeply with Queenslanders.

In a memorable year for Queensland, Nine Queensland provided unparalleled coverage of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, ensuring viewers had the latest information in real time. In collaboration with 9News, Today, Brisbane Times and 4BC not a moment was missed with extensive live coverage, across Nine’s television, radio and print.

9News Queensland welcomed Joel Dry to the presenting desk in August this year, joining Melissa Downes. Viewers kept tuning in, resulting in its landslide news rating dominance across Total People and all key demographics.

Returning for its sixth year in 2025, My Way continued to captivate audiences with its powerful stories of everyday Queenslanders doing extraordinary things. From the eco-tourism experiences on the Gold Coast to unforgettable adventures in the Northern Territory, the series spotlighted passionate people doing it their way. Episode 5 of season 11 recorded the highest audience of the season.

It dominated its timeslot locally with Total People and all key demographics, securing a Local Total TV Reach of 214,000, 65,000 ahead of Seven, and a Local Total TV Average Audience of 135,000, 39,000 ahead of the nearest competitor.

In August, Riverfire by The Australian Retirement Trust lit up the Brisbane sky as well as TV screens across the Sunshine State, delivering sparkling ratings results. Nine’s exclusive broadcast dominated prime-time viewing as the No.1 program of the night in Brisbane with Total People and all key demographics, reaching 398,000 viewers (Total TV Reach). Hosted for the first time by 9News Queensland’s presenting duo, Melissa Downes and Joel Dry, Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust attracted a Total TV average audience of 275,000.

Nine’s newest kids program, produced in Queensland, TheatreDome launched in July airs on weekdays on 9GO!

An electrifying show full of fun and creativity, TheatreDome is breaking new ground as Australia’s first improvisational show starring children for children.

Meanwhile, a special broadcast of Queensland’s flagship arts education program, Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage, aired on Channel 9 and 9Now, celebrating the state’s young performers.

Beyond entertainment, Nine Queensland’s commitment to making a difference was evident through its impactful programming to support charity initiatives. The 2025 Nine Telethon once again proved the power of community, raising an extraordinary total of $10,005,545 for Mater Little Miracles, surpassing the goal of $9 million, a crucial initiative that supports Queensland’s tiniest and sickest babies.

The 2025 Nine Telethon was made extra special this year with the return of the Nine Telethon Concert supporting Mater Little Miracles on Wednesday night, headlined by the sensational Tones And I, with support from quintessential Aussie rock frontman Mark Seymour. It was a night of music, celebration and generosity, bringing the community together and driving momentum toward the huge fundraising total.

More recently, Nine Queensland, along with the support of Today, rallied behind McHappy Day on November 15, to help raise vital funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Through these diverse productions and initiatives, Nine Queensland remains dedicated to serving its audience with quality content that entertains, informs, and makes a lasting impact on the community.
