Postcards on Channel 9 – Join the Postcards team this week as they enjoy some tip-top day trips from the city to the country, Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Shane Delia reveals an ideal family getaway spot in Docklands (Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). But first he checks out ArtVo, Australia’s first immersive “trick-art” gallery, and GlowGolf, a fun, glow-in-the-dark mini golf course. It’s not a family getaway without ice cream, so Shane stops by C9 Chocolate and Gelato for a mouthwatering sundae. He then checks into the Vibe Hotel Melbourne Docklands for a staycay.
Todd Woodbridge takes a drive to Macedon (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). After sampling some moreish baked goods from Harvest & Soul Providore, he explores the scenery at Forest Glade Gardens and has a chat with the director, Graham Cumming. His day ends at the Mount Macedon Hotel with a refreshment and a cosy pub meal.
Meanwhile, Brodie Harper drives north for a day in Shepparton (Ngurraiillam Country), checking out the town’s vibrant art scene.
To start, she grabs a coffee from The Last Straw, which also dishes up earthy Thai cuisine. Then Brodie heads to Monash Park to check out the town’s Moooving Art Project, an ever-changing public art exhibition using life-sized 3-D cows, before heading to the Shepparton Art Museum to chat with CEO Melinda Martin about what is currently on exhibition.
And Madeline Spark is in East Melbourne (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country), fuelling up at Square and Compass, a health-conscious cafe serving delicious superfood salads and great coffee. Dr Louise Voll Box, the CEO, then guides her through the antiques at the house-museum, The Johnston Collection before she steps into the warmth of southern Italian hospitality at Roccella, an all-day restaurant serving up traditional woodfired pizza and antipasti.
