My Room Telethon on Channel 9 raises record breaking $6 million for Childhood Cancer – At the final siren, the total funds raised at last night’s Footy Show Grand Final: My Room Telethon together with other My Room fundraising initiatives throughout the year, raised a record-breaking total of $6,075,542.68 for children and families fighting childhood cancer.
On Thursday night on Nine, host Eddie McGuire, joined by Alicia Loxley and members of the Sunday Footy Show team, including Nathan Brown, Matthew Lloyd and Rory Sloane, combined for an evening packed with footy and entertainment to raise money for a great cause.
The My Room Telethon on Nine has now raised more than $25 million in donations over the past 10 years. Funds raised through this year’s Telethon will help ensure children with cancer and their families receive the care, comfort and support they need — from financial assistance to specialised clinical care. They’ll also drive pioneering research and clinical trials aimed at finding a cure and giving every child the best possible chance at a brighter future.
Special guests and My Room ambassadors dropped in throughout the night, including Brisbane Lions captain Harris Andrews ahead of the Grand Final, Geelong star Ollie Dempsey, Carlton captain and dual Brownlow Medallist Patrick Cripps, Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempell, and Hawthorn gun Will Day.
Plus, Western Bulldog Cody Weightman, Essendon’s Andrew McGrath, Hawthorn’s Massimo D’Ambrosio, Gold Coast’s Ben King, St Kilda’s Max King, and former Socceroo Archie Thompson showed their support from the Probe Phone Room.
Viewers were treated to a live performance by Vanessa Amarosi and a special appearance from Emma Memma at the Monash Children’s Hospital, while Felix Von Hofe was holding the fort at Bridie O’Reilly’s, chatting with former Norm Smith Medallist Stevie Johnson and three-time Premiership player for the Brisbane Lions, Jason Akermanis.
Although Australian Formula 1 driver Oscar Piastri couldn’t make it due to racing commitments, his mother Nicole joined the show to auction off one of his signed helmets.
Maurizio Marcocci, Chairman, and Margaret Zita OAM, CEO of My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, thanked everyone for their support in a joint statement.
They said:
“We are committed to continuing to be an essential support system for children with cancer, and this year we are humbled and deeply grateful to announce that through the combined efforts of the Footy Show Grand Final: My Room Telethon and other initiatives, we have raised a total of $6,075,542.68.
“This remarkable achievement is a testament to the power of our community, our partners, volunteers, and the public, who believe in our mission. These funds are more than just a number. They represent vital support for clinical care, groundbreaking research and the promise of a brighter future for every child. Thank you for helping us provide optimal care and support for these brave children on their journey.”
Managing Director of Nine Melbourne, Andrea Salmon, said:

The donations are a testament to our shared belief that every child deserves a future. Thank you to everyone who contributed and to the dedicated team behind this event.
