NCIS: Sydney comes to Darwin – Endemol Shine Australia, CBS Studios, Paramount Australia, and Screen Territory are thrilled to announce that the internationally acclaimed series, NCIS: Sydney, is coming to Darwin!

This major screen production has been brought to the Northern Territory through the Territory Government’s Screen Territory Production Attraction Incentive Program (PAIP).

Produced by Endemol Shine Australia for CBS Studios and Paramount Australia, and distributed outside Australia by Paramount Global Content Distribution, the production of the special two-part, one-hour episodes will commence in Darwin and its surrounding areas later this year.

Productions filmed in the Northern Territory significantly contribute to the local economy through jobs and the procurement of goods and services. They also showcase the magnificent Northern Territory both nationally and globally.

As the first international iteration of the NCIS franchise outside the U.S., NCIS: Sydney features a dynamic team of U.S. NCIS Agents and Australian Federal Police (AFP) who collaborate in a multinational taskforce to combat naval crimes.

In season two, the agents of NCIS: Sydney face a powerful adversary, threatening the region’s stability and the team itself.

NCIS: Sydney has become one of the most-watched local series since the launch of Paramount+ Australia and premiered on CBS in the U.S. as the #1 new series in the fall of the 2023-2024 season, with its premiere reaching over 10.2 million viewers, including an encore episode. In its first season, NCIS: Sydney averaged more than 8 million multiplatform viewers per episode across all platforms and has been nominated for a TV Week Logie Award for Best Drama Series.

NCIS is one of the world’s most successful television franchises, with more than 300 million viewers globally across all platforms, including broadcast, cable, streaming, and syndication (according to Nielsen and international Television Audience Measurement companies in key territories). Territory screen professionals will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the best in the business on NCIS: Sydney.

The Production Attraction Incentive Program is open year-round and aims to attract screen productions to film in the Northern Territory, employing Territorians and utilizing local services and businesses.

Director of Screen Territory, Jennie Hughes:

“Screen Territory is thrilled to see the Top End become a part of the NCIS legacy, one of the longest-running and most successful TV franchises ever. NCIS: Sydney has enjoyed immense success with global audiences, and we look forward to showcasing the unique locations of the Territory in this beloved series. We are excited to contribute the talents and abilities of our local screen production crews and creative talents and look forward to building and fostering this new production relationship with Endemol Shine Australia and Paramount.”

Head of Scripted, Endemol Shine Australia, Sara Richardson:

“Endemol Shine Australia and the entire cast and crew are extremely excited to bring NCIS: Sydney to the Northern Territory. The rare beauty of Australia’s Top End will be showcased to audiences around Australia and the globe, serving as the backdrop for compelling storylines and high action for our brilliant and eclectic team of agents.”

Creative Advisor Drama, Paramount Australia, Rick Maier:

“What better way to showcase the brilliant Northern Territory to the rest of the world? We are incredibly proud to celebrate each and every new milestone for NCIS: Sydney.”

I think NCIS:Sydney needs to bring an old Australian show into the fold. The show Sea Patrol made use of NAVCOM and the waterways around Australia. It would be very easy for a couple of members of Sea Patrol to be promoted and work with the NCIS:Sydney team. It would also work if a case involved the on a warship working a case at Sea. They could use the HMAS Hammersley. Then bring back crew members that left for one reason or another and have them back on the ship. Also, they could have a case involving a character called “two dads” and bring him home. It would be a win for Sea Patrol fans and a win for talented actors like Lisa McCune and Ian Stenlake getting to show there talents to American audiences that might not know them.
