Acclaimed Aussie gardener Jamie Durie is about to take on the biggest challenge of his life in Growing Home With Jamie Durie,aninspiring new documentary series premiering 8.30pm, Friday 25 October on Channel 7 and 7plus.
Featuring Durie, his partner Ameka and children – three-year-old daughter Beau and 18-month-old son Nash – the series follows their journey as they navigate the turbulent and challenging task of building a new eco home with off-grid capability in Sydney’s beautiful Northern Beaches.
“This mission is about trying to build the most sustainable house we possibly can without any compromises,”
– TV host, author and environmentalist Durie said.
“We’ve just had our second baby, building our dream home and planning a wedding…what could possibly go wrong?”
Filmed across the two-year build, the series brings viewers a fresh combination of stunning architecture, energy and cost-saving ideas, eco-innovation initiatives, home-building challenges, engineering feats, and garden extreme-scaping.
“This is the show I’ve always wanted to make,”

“We wanted to prove that you can build sustainably and responsibly without compromise. We have worked hard for our dream, and whilst it’s ambitious, there are simple and cost-effective ideas here that everyone can use in their own new nest.”
But with the discovery of asbestos shutting down the building site and disputes with neighbours over development plans, could a dream 20 years in the making turn into a nightmare?
