It’s the business end of the football season now and in April Optus Sport will be delivering some of the biggest games in some of the biggest leagues in the world.

In the Premier League, April will serve up wall-to-wall fierce matches, including potential title deciders and must-watch local derbies. 

After drawing with reigning champions Manchester City on Monday morning, Arsenal faces a make-or-break month as they hunt for their first Premier League title since 2004.

They will face a potentially tricky game in a London derby against Chelsea at the Australia-friendly time of 5am (AEST) on Wednesday, April 24. 

It could be down to Ange Postecoglou to be the one to rain on the Gunners’ parade on Sunday, April 28, at 11pm (AEST), as Arsenal host the North London derby against Tottenham in a game which is not to be missed.

The game could have huge ramifications, not only in the title race but in the race for Champions League qualification as well. 

The third team in the title race, Liverpool, who currently sit top of the table after Monday morning’s 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion, are looking to give outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp a champion’s send-off but face their most bitter rivals to make that happen. 

The Reds travel to Old Trafford on Monday, April 8, as Manchester United know a win for them will not only strengthen their own hand in the race for the top four, but also deal Liverpool a big blow in their title tilt. 

It’s the first of two massive derbies for Liverpool, with the Merseyside derby live on Optus Sport at 5am (AEST) on Thursday, April 25, at Everton’s Goodison Park home. 

Over in LALIGA, arguably the biggest club match in world football, El Clasico, will grace football lovers’ screens once again with title-chasing Real Madrid hosting Barcelona at 5am (AEST) on Monday, April 22. 

As always, it will go a long way to deciding who lifts the trophy at the end of the season, but there are still other massive games in Spain before it in April, as Real Madrid face Athletic Club and this season’s surprise package Girona travel to Atletico Madrid. 

Over in the Women’s Super League, the plethora of Aussies will all be involved, with the likes of Mary Fowler and Alanna Kennedy helping Manchester City challenge Chelsea’s dominance at the top, while Kyra Cooney-Cross, Caitlin Foord and Steph Catley will be in action for Arsenal. 

Similarly in the J.League, you’ll be able to see Aussie bosses Harry Kewell and Pete Cklamovski taking charge of Yokohama F.Marinos and FC Tokyo respectively, while Mitch Duke, Thomas Deng and Mitch Langerak featuring at both ends of the table.
