The Whitely Art Scandal on ABC – The Whiteley Art Scandal tells the riveting story of the greatest art fraud case in Australian history and takes a rare, behind the scenes look at the glamorous and high-stakes world of art dealing.
Evidence appears to mount against the two men accused of creating and fraudulently bringing to market a series of fake Whiteley paintings. Damning photographic evidence seems to show the contested artworks being painted years after Brett Whiteley died, and a leading Whiteley expert casts doubt on the paintings’ authenticity.
But a sensational piece of evidence undermines the case against these two men.
In the stunning conclusion to this two-part series, the documentary asks, are these paintings genuine or fake?
