The Messenger on ABC – Exhausted but elated that his job is complete, Ed (William McKenna) receives another card, the Ace of Clubs. He realises it’s not the end at all.
The Ace of Clubs has a confounding riddle scrawled on it and leads to three more names. A struggling priest, a mysterious, long-dead young woman and a gambling father with no idea of the stakes.
Ed (William McKenna) tracks down the bully he knew from school, now a grown-up bully with a love of pokies. With Marv (Chris Alasio) as an unreliable sidekick, using not-entirely legal means, he manages to make this thug realise what he really stands to lose.
Ed (William McKenna) moves on to tracking down the priest. Given the nature of the things Ed’s (William McKenna) had to deal with on the cards, he wrongly assumes the priest has a shameful past and when he takes action, Ed finds himself trapped with an ominous and irate man of the cloth.
