Tonight | Recipe of the Year on ABC: celebration cooking and a CWA classic – Recipe of the Year turns to the food we make for life’s big moments tonight. From appetisers to party food, the home cooks compete to create the best recipes for a celebration. The episode airs at 7.30pm on ABC and ABC iview.
This is episode three of seven, so the competition is now well under way. With fewer cooks left in the barn, each round carries more weight.
Special-occasion recipes put to the test
First, the home cooks bring their own special-occasion recipes to the table. These are the dishes people make when family and friends gather, and each cook has a story behind theirs.
Then comes a classic CWA celebration recipe. It demands precision and a proper sense of occasion, so there is little room for shortcuts.
Another cook leaves the farm
As the barn fills with stories of community, family and the moments we cook for, the competition sharpens. By the end of the night, another home cook will leave the farm.
For viewers, the episode is a reminder of why the series works. It mixes heirloom recipes and personal history with a real contest, and the CWA test adds a traditional benchmark that every cook has to meet.
