Love Me on ABC and ABC iview S2E5 – Glen, Clara and Aaron Mathieson have picked up the pieces of their complex lives following Christine’s death and are each grappling with a new reality that poses the challenging question – is love enough?
Glen and Anita are faced with the arrival of someone from her past who will threaten their current happiness and security; Clara must come to terms with becoming a step parent to Peter’s son as well as the very real prospect that her hopes of having a family of her own may never be realised; and Aaron’s attempts to juggle fatherhood, Ella and his love for Jesse send him into a spiral of self doubt and erratic behaviour.
Together, however, the Mathiesons will weather the storm of uncertainty as they always do, with humour, misunderstandings, humility, champagne and of course… a deep and bonding love.
Episode 5
Glen is distracted by the discovery of Anita’s condition.
Clara and Peter struggle under the weight of last night’s proposal, while Aaron loses Ella again when she decides to move out and back to her own flat.
Aaron is struggling on his own at home and while scrolling on social media sees his boss, Amy, and colleagues on a weekend away and makes a spur of the minute decision to join them. In Sorrento, he catches up with the girls for lunch and as the drinks flow, he makes some ill thought decisions.
Clara runs across town to a conference and sees the man from the night before. A brief encounter gives Clara a new sense of purpose. Whist there, she bumps into Jesse working and in a heartfelt moment realises how similar their choices are.
Back in town, Clara and Peter struggle to communicate, but finally make it to the fertility clinic together and form a clear path ahead.
Glen receives a rescue plea from Amy to come and collect Aaron from Sorrento. He takes Peter with him and as they share stories of their kids growing up, they realise the true value of their relationships. When they find Aaron, Glen and Peter give him a pep talk, sharing their experience as fathers – they’ve all made choices and life isn’t always easy.
When Glen returns home – he too has a renewed outlook, but as he and Anita fight again about her life decisions – she pushes Glen away.
