Love Me on ABC and ABC iview S2E3 – Glen, Clara and Aaron Mathieson have picked up the pieces of their complex lives following Christine’s death and are each grappling with a new reality that poses the challenging question – is love enough?
Glen and Anita are faced with the arrival of someone from her past who will threaten their current happiness and security; Clara must come to terms with becoming a step parent to Peter’s son as well as the very real prospect that her hopes of having a family of her own may never be realised; and Aaron’s attempts to juggle fatherhood, Ella and his love for Jesse send him into a spiral of self doubt and erratic behaviour.
Together, however, the Mathiesons will weather the storm of uncertainty as they always do, with humour, misunderstandings, humility, champagne and of course… a deep and bonding love.
Episode 3
Glen bravely asks Anita if she’s having an affair. She confesses that she met up with her late husband’s brother Richard and admits that she’s been trying to keep them apart.
Out with Jesse again, Aaron is torn between what he wants to do and what he should be doing – which is returning home to look after baby Lola.
Clara tells Peter about the next appointment at the fertility clinic, but Peter is distracted. Researching paternity tests on the internet, he seems convinced that Julia has lied to him about Max.
The next day, Clara sits waiting with fertility specialist Roland. Eventually it becomes evident that Peter is not coming. So, Clara asks Roland what her options are.
Finally, Anita concedes and invites Richard over. After some awkward greetings and an unwanted bottle of wine, Richard tells Glen that he’ll pay for the leak in Anita’s roof to be repaired, after all, it’s his house. When Richard leaves, Glen is clearly upset – why didn’t Anita tell him about the ownership of the house?
The chasm between them is widening.
Later at home, Peter and Clara can’t seem to move past the challenge of fertility and the questions it’s brought up for Peter. Peter further distances himself and suggests she might be better off on her own.
