The renovation reaches two especially ambitious spaces: a medieval tower room and a damp cellar cut into the rockface. Alan’s cinema plans and Amanda’s wine grotto give the episode two very different design challenges.
Italian Job on ABC: Amanda Holden
Amanda Holden and Alan Carr bought a dilapidated 17th-century house for one euro in Tuscany. They are spending the summer transforming it into an Italian dream home.
In series two, episode seven, the pair face their biggest renovation challenge yet. Alan wants to turn the medieval tower room into a movie theatre inspired by Cinema Paradiso.
Amanda takes on the cellar, a damp-ridden space carved out of the mountain’s rockface. Her ambition is to make it into a wine grotto.
The episode also takes them away from the building project. Alan brings Amanda to the Guicciardini Strozzi Casona winery for a tour of its ancient cellars.
There, they meet descendants of Mona Lisa. The visit sits alongside the work on the cinema and cellar as their Tuscan transformation continues.
This is the seventh episode of the eight-part second series.
