Grand Designs: House of the Year on ABC – Kevin McCloud, design expert Michelle Ogundehin, architect Damion Burrows and conservation architect Natasha Huq complete their tour of the homes longlisted by the Royal Institute of British Architects for House of the Year.

One more home will be promoted to the shortlist by the RIBA judges, before they reveal which house has been crowned the 2022 champion.

This time, five houses demonstrating exceptional use of materials and craftsmanship are vying for a place on the shortlist. There’s a gloriously precise, meticulously crafted barn conversion in East Anglia; a beautiful, minimal hymn to brick in Northern Ireland; a small but exquisitely honed eco-terrace in London; a timber-framed, timber-clad eco home in the Fens; and a Norwich extension that proves even the humblest, most affordable materials can, through careful craftsmanship, be made to shine.

Only one will join the select group of finalists, before the shortlist is complete and we discover the overall winner of the RIBA House of the Year Award, 2022.
