Gold Diggers on ABC – It’s the 1850s, and two ratbag sisters from Sydney travel to Australia’s Gold Rush in search of their own treasure: newly rich idiots.
Gert (Claire Lovering) a head strong party animal, and Marigold (Danielle Walker), her blissfully naive little sister just did something pretty dodgy. They’ve fled the slums of Sydney to start a new life in the exciting new world of the Victorian gold fields.
Together, they are willing to do anything to secure their fortune; but first they must suffer the lads, lice, and lechery of the Australian goldfields, whilst also having a bloody good time.
In tonight’s first episode, the Brewer sisters – Gert and Marigold – arrive in Dead Horse Gap, on the run from some sketchy criminal business in Sydney but full of hope for a bright and prosperous future.
They track down an old friend, Fran (Megan Wilding), who has reinvented herself as a cultured French woman to nab her uber wealthy husband, Percy (Luke Mullins). But when Fran pretends not to know them, the sisters must come up with a cunning plan to find shelter for the night.
