Death Valley on ABC: Janie Mallowan
Welsh Detective Sergeant Janie Mallowan wants to solve major cases and progress her career. Her partnership is with John Chapel, the retired actor who played her television detective idol, Inspector Charles Caesar.
Janie first met John while investigating the apparent suicide of wealthy property developer Carwyn Rees. In episode four, another death gives her a fresh opportunity to pursue the DI promotion she wants.
Coastal-town businesswoman and amateur theatre director Menna Hughes has been murdered. Janie is eager to solve the case and enlists John’s help.
However, John bristles at Janie’s suggestion that he might have lost his acting skills. He takes matters into his own hands and joins the cast of the theatre group’s next play.
The investigation and John’s determination to prove himself bring the partnership into the world of amateur drama. This is episode four of six.
