Chance encounters for cousins Jolyon and Soames Forsyte, rival heirs to the family firm, set off a chain of events which threaten the stability of their lives and the reputation of their family.
Married Jolyon reconnects with a former lover whilst eligible bachelor Soames falls for a penniless dancer.
