In the opening episode, viewers meet Michael Sleep, a man whose life has remained frozen since the disappearance of his girlfriend Clea seven years earlier. Stuck in a familiar routine, Michael spends his days working at a DIY shop, visiting his father Brian at a care home and returning home wondering if he will ever see Clea again.
But everything changes when Brian, played by Michael Palin, reveals a mystical recipe discovered in an old journal. Convinced it holds the key to uncovering the truth about Clea’s disappearance, Brian believes this could be Michael’s long-awaited opportunity to finally find answers.
