Today | Front Row with Megan Burslem: Beethoven’s Fifth takes centre stage – The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra performs Beethoven’s 5th Symphony alongside works by Anna Clyne and Mahler in the final episode of Front Row with Megan Burslem.
From its iconic opening to its triumphant finale, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony remains one of the most electrifying works in the orchestral repertoire, building from tension to a radiant sense of victory.
Also featured in the program is Restless Oceans by Anna Clyne, inspired by Audre Lorde’s poem A Woman Speaks, a striking contemporary piece exploring strength and defiance.
Swedish soprano Camilla Tilling also makes her Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra debut in Gustav Mahler’s Rückert Lieder, a beautifully expressive song cycle of intimacy and emotion.
Front Row with Megan Burslem airs Saturday 27 June at 2.30pm on ABC TV and ABC iview
