ABC celebrates 20 years of Conversations with an anniversary collection – The ABC’s most loved and long-running podcast, Conversations marks a major milestone this year, celebrating two decades of unforgettable storytelling with the release of the Conversations 20th Anniversary Collection.
For 20 years, Conversations has invited listeners to spend an hour in someone else’s life – sharing stories from the famous, the unknown, the brave, the brilliant, and quietly extraordinary. Hosted by Richard Fidler and Sarah Kanowski, the program has become a touchstone for thoughtful, respectful and deeply human storytelling.
To mark the occasion, longtime host Richard Fidler said:
“In 20 years of Conversations, it feels like we’ve met every kind of person under the sun. These 20 shows contain some of those stories that have truly astonished, disturbed and delighted us over two decades. These people were such a pleasure to speak with and hear from.”
Conversations cohost Sarah Kanowski agrees:
“I was a listener who loved the show long before joining. I remember being at home with babies, just gripped by stories that I didn’t expect to be gripped by. You knew it was going to be compelling and unexpected.

The 20th Anniversary Collection features compelling interviews recorded between 2006 and 2024, highlighting a diverse array of voices and experiences, refreshed with new introductions from Richard and Sarah.
From Brisbane-born songwriter Mike Chapman to Judy Sharp, mother of artist Tim Sharp, and trauma-informed dentist Sharonne Zaks. It also includes insights from journalist and war correspondent Michael Ware, kangaroo rescuer Chris ‘Brolga’ Barns, marine ecologist and seaweed entrepreneur Pia Winberg, and well-known celebrities Jennifer Saunders, Alan Alda, and Bryan Brown—alongside many more unforgettable voices.
The first five episodes of the Conversations 20th Anniversary Collection are available now on the ABC listen app, with new episodes published daily throughout August.
