JOHANNA – SAVING MONEY IN THE KITCHEN WITH OZHARVEST

Head Chef Shae cooks up some money saving tips you won’t want to miss, while Ronni discusses a couple of big milestones for OzHarvest including the upcoming Unite to Feed Australia LIVE concert.

Making changes to your home when you rent can be difficult, so Juliet is going to demonstrate a couple of great ideas to improve your kitchen, that won’t jeopardise the bond. Juliet weaves her magic to makeover the tiles behind the stove and builds a cabinet that does triple duties as a bench, kitchen island and drinks trolley, in the fun and funky style of the current tenants. COLIN – SWEET CORN FARM WALKAROUND & SWEET CORN TOSTADAS
If you’ve ever wondered where your corn comes from, you’re not alone. Colin has travelled to tropical Townsville, to see how these delicious nuggets of gold go from paddock to plate. Colin learns all there is to know about growing conditions, harvesting and how they get to your local supermarket so quickly. Of course, it would be rude for a chef not to give the produce a workout while on the very farm it comes from, so he’ll make a dish that honours the Mexican heritage of corn, in the form of Sweetcorn Tostadas.
GRAHAM – WILDFLOWER WALK (MUOGAMARRA NATURE RESERVE)
For nature lovers and native plant enthusiasts it’s hard to find a natural area that is so diverse in unique plant life as Muogamarra Nature Reserve just north of Sydney. Admiring the spectacular views across the Hawkesbury River, Graham takes us on a walking trail with two passionate conservationists from the National Parks and Wildlife Services team. To preserve the fragile ecosystems and indigenous cultural heritage, the reserve opens just six weeks a year and Spring is the perfect time to go as the bush transforms into a kaleidoscope of florals and textures, sights and scents.
CHARLIE – IT’S MORE THAN A HEDGE
To create some privacy, most homeowners will plant the tallest one-species hedge they can, covering one wall with a big green one. There’s nothing wrong with that, but Charlie thinks we can do better. So, he is going to transform the side of a front yard from just a plain fence that provides no privacy, to a lush sitting area with a range of plants forming a multi-layered and multi-textured hedge. A tranquil spot to watch the world pass by.
DR HARRY – NATIONAL AGILITY CHAMPIONSHIPS
If you think dogs running around a park are having fun, wait until you see Dog Agility! Dogs being guided around a course filled with obstacles in the fastest time possible, is as much fun for the handlers as it is for the dogs. At the Australian National Agility Championships, Dr Harry witnesses dogs of all shapes and sizes put through their paces. But this competition isn’t just for the quickest dogs, there is a variety of skills levels competing, opening up the sport to all manner of dog breeds and skill level of handlers. With over 800 dogs from all around the country vying for the title of National Champion, Dr Harry won’t be the only one having barking good fun!
ADAM – BRANCHING OUT WITH SHELVING
The timber we get from the hardware store comes in uniform sizes, perfect for making lots of projects, but if you’d like to make something unique, Adam will help you create a bespoke shelving unit that celebrates the natural beauty of a tree. By using actual tree branches for the spine and hardwood for the shelves, you can bring the outdoor aesthetic inside and no two units will be the same. This will be as pretty to look at as it is practical.
