Better Homes and Gardens on Channel 7 – are paying a visit to a true-blue Aussie Digger, David Trist, the type of friend you want by your side through thick and thin.

JOHANNA + ADAM + CHARLIE – THE NO BENDING BACKYARD (ANZAC)

Better Homes and Gardens are paying a visit to a true-blue Aussie Digger, David Trist, the type of friend you want by your side through thick and thin. Having served in New Guinea during World War II, David then survived a skin disease picked up in the jungles. After coming home, he met Betty and they’ve been happily married for 73 years. At 98, he’s still working as the Chairman of a building society that provides affordable housing for disadvantaged people.

The least we can do is say thanks for his lifetime of selflessness, so Johanna, Adam and Charlie will give the family backyard a complete makeover. They’ll make the new garden low maintenance, more accessible and a beautiful space to bring joy to David and his family.

FAST ED – ANZAC DAY BREAKFAST: TOMATO & BUTTERMILK BREAKFAST CASSEROLE

After you’ve attended a dawn service and paid your respects to our diggers on a chilly ANZAC Day morning, wouldn’t it be nice to come home to a hearty breakfast to fill you up and warm you up? Well, Ed has a casserole recipe that ticks all the boxes. It has breakfast staples like bacon and egg, along with loads of vegetables and even some sweetness with buttermilk bread. Being a casserole, you make it in advance and keep it in the fridge so all you’ll have to do on the day is re-heat and tuck in!

FAST ED – ANZAC DAY BREAKFAST: PRUNE & ROSEMARY SCONES TWO WAYS

What better food is there to sustain you through ANZAC Day than a classic Aussie scone? And as a nod to the occasion, Ed’s including some rosemary in the recipe. Depending on what you serve with them, the prune and rosemary flavours allow them to be enjoyed either sweet or savoury. They certainly are a great treat to serve after your Anzac Day early start, and your guests can choose to finish them their own way.

GRAHAM – GLENROCK COUNTRY GARDENS

Tonight, Graham is visiting an award-winning country garden in Tenterfield, in the high country of the New England region. ‘Glenrock Gardens’ is renowned for its beauty and charm, with so much to explore. Exotic flowers and trees intermingled with the classic Aussie bush flora and Eucalypts, iconic dry stone rock walling, terraces, views across the lakes and secret rooms just waiting to be discovered. Designed in the English-style and covering 10 acres, this garden is spectacular no matter what season it’s viewed in.

JULIET – REDRESS YOUR WARDROBE

Old free-standing wardrobes are often forgotten about in the modern era of built-ins, but with their fine detailing and old-world appeal, they present a great opportunity to add some charm to your bedroom. Juliet transforms just such a wardrobe, not only giving it a new colour scheme, but adding some extra storage to the bottom. With more functionality and a boost in height, this old wardrobe has a new lease on life.

DR HARRY – REMOUNT PROGRAM

With Anzac commemorations approaching, Dr Harry spends the day with a couple who have opened their home and their hearts to help our Aussie veterans. Along with a team of incredible volunteers, they run a special horsemanship program to help serving and returned veterans and their families, to de-stress, rebuild confidence and reconnect with the community. Known as ‘Remount’, participants learn how to interact with and ride a horse. When participants build a bond of trust with their horse, they truly experience the healing power of this majestic animal.
