The Hunters on Channel 7 and 7plus Bondi Hate Murders – In the 1970s, 80s, and 90s Sydney’s gay community was targeted by a wave of sickening assaults and killings. In December 2023 the findings of a Special Commission of Inquiry into LGBTIQ Hate Crimes found that of 23 unsolved cases, 14 were murders and the remaining 9 were potentials.
Investigative journalist Adam Shand and top detective Steve van Aperen examine the epicentre of these murders – Marks Park nearby world-renowned Bondi Beach. They investigate tragic unsolved cases such as TV newsreader, Ross Warren, and John Russell. Using survivor accounts, a new identikit of a suspect in multiple attacks is created.
